2010 Youth Praise Festival Schedule

International Winners Festival: Tuesday, May 18, 2010 (Kennedy Center Washington D.C.)

Divisions

Preschool/Kindergarten Division
Elementary Division I (Grade 1-3)
Elementary Division II (Grade 4-6)
Junior Division (Grade 7-9)
High School Division (Grade 10-12)

  • Four hands piano and ensemble categories do not have separate divisions and limited only to those in grade 12 and under.
  • No age restriction for an accompanist.

Preliminary Repertoire (Open to the Public)

  • One classical arrangement of a hymn

(Judges may request to terminate the audition if it exceeds 7 minutes)

  • Winners of previous INPSS-sponsored festivals (Third Place / Bronze Prize or better) in the same instrument category may be exempt from the preliminary round.

Finals Repertoire (Open to the Public)

  • One classical arrangement of a hymn

    (The same variation from the preliminary round may be performed. The entire variation is expected to be? performed in this round)

  • One classical piece
  • Criteria of Judgment: Hymn 60%, Classical 40%
  • Judges may request to terminate the audition if the total duration of the performance (for two pieces) exceeds 10 minutes.
  • In voice section, applicants will only perform one hymn, which may not overlap with the preliminary repertoire.

Rules and Requirements for Applications

Applicants may perform any classical variation of a hymn for the preliminary and final rounds. Please read the following rules before you make your final choice.

  • Applicants may perform any classical variation of a hymn by any composer; under the condition the variation has been previously published.
  • Applicants are responsible for arranging accompanists, if necessary

Prizes and Benefits

The Best Performer of the Year:
One winner among the performers at the Kennedy Center will receive:
$1,000 Scholarship and Certificate
Grand Prix: Medal and Certificate (Invitation to perform at the Kennedy Center )
(may vary by region)

  • Grand Prix recipients will be announced at the Regional Winners' Concert and selected among Gold Prize winners.
  • One person (or a group) in each Instrument category, Piano, String, Woodwind, Brass wind, and Ensemble (No division of grade group)
  • Number of Grand Prix recipients may vary by region.
  • Grand Prix recipients will be invited to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
Gold Prize : One person (or a group) in each division
Trophy and Certificate (Selected excellent performers will be invited to perform at the Kennedy Center)

Silver Prize: Two people (or groups) in each division

Best Teacher Award:
INPSS awards a dedicated teacher, instructor, or parent for nurturing future generations of Christian musicians.
Nominations are based on recommendations made to INPSS Headquarters and regional offices

Rules and Conditions for Performances and Prizes

  • There will be point deductions for applicants who do not submit their musical scores.
  • Formal wear is expected on stage. Applicants may not perform on stage if they appear in jeans or slippers.
  • The Grand Prix award recipient of previous years may not compete in the same division in the same instrument category. The applicant may compete in different instrument category or division.
  • Some prize descriptions may not apply to certain regions.
  • At judges' discretion, there may be no winner for certain prizes.
  • In each region, two individuals or teams will be invited to the Kennedy Center for the International Praise Festival; however, at the discretion of regional offices, invited person/team may vary.
  • Performances at the Regional Winners' Concert and the International Winners' Concert will be produced into CD's and DVD's.
  • One outstanding performer who is invited to the International Praise Festival will be mentioned as the New Praise Performer of the Year.
  • Please be on time.
  • We post detail schedules for the preliminary and final rounds on the Website only, not in person.
  • We do not allow a correction of the application form or refund application fees after the deadline.

Judges

  • Prestigious music experts with doctoral degrees will be invited as judges.
